RAATV Ad Privacy Policy
How viewer data is collected, used, shared, and protected in connection with advertising on RAATV. This policy supplements (but does not replace) the general RAATV Privacy Policy and complies with CCPA (California), GDPR (EU/UK), COPPA (under-13), and applicable state privacy laws.
Plain-language summary: We collect minimal data to show ads, count impressions, and prevent fraud. We never sell viewer data to advertisers. Paying subscribers see zero ads by default. Viewers under 13 get COPPA-compliant contextual ads only (no tracking). You can opt out of personalized ads any time.
1. What data we collect for ads
When a commercial plays on RAATV, we collect the minimum data needed to verify the play, enforce frequency caps, measure advertiser performance, and prevent ad fraud.
Automatically collected
Anonymized user ID (internal, not tied to your email or name in the ad system)
The commercial that played + the content it ran against
Content-context targeting — showing an ad against relevant genre or show (e.g., fashion ad on a lifestyle show)
3. Sharing with advertisers
Advertisers get aggregated reporting only — totals and percentages, never individual viewer identifiers. When third-party verification (MOAT, DoubleVerify, IAS) is attached to a campaign, those vendors receive the same aggregated signals plus a hashed session ID so they can verify viewability without identifying viewers.
We do not sell viewer data. We do not share viewer lists with advertisers. We do not allow advertisers to contact viewers directly through our platform.
4. Your rights
All viewers
Ad-free subscription — paying RAATV subscribers receive an ad-free experience (unless they explicitly opt into a discounted ad-supported tier)
Limit ad tracking — respect the OS-level "Limit Ad Tracking" / "Ask App Not to Track" signal on iOS, Android, and browsers
Right to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" (we do neither for advertising, but the opt-out link is still available)
Right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights
Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal is honored automatically
EU / UK residents (GDPR / UK GDPR)
Legal basis for ad processing: legitimate interest (contextual) or consent (behavioral)
Full TCF 2.2 consent management — change preferences any time
Right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your data
Right to object to processing based on legitimate interest
Right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority
Children (under 13, COPPA)
No personalized advertising
No behavioral tracking or retargeting
Only contextual ads allowed (based on the specific show, not the viewer)
Parental verification required for any data collection beyond the session
5. Data retention
Raw ad event logs: 90 days
Aggregated reporting data: 24 months
Billing / invoice records: 7 years (tax compliance)
Fraud-flag logs: 13 months
6. Security
All ad-related data is stored encrypted at rest in AWS DynamoDB. Data in transit is protected with TLS 1.2+. Access to the ad platform is limited to authenticated admin accounts with role-based permissions. We run automatic audits on access logs and have a documented incident response plan for any data breach.
7. Third-party services involved in advertising
The following third-party vendors may process ad-related data on our behalf, bound by data processing agreements:
Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, CloudFront)
MOAT / DoubleVerify / IAS — only when explicitly requested by an advertiser for verification
Google Ad Manager / SpotX / FreeWheel — only if you connect one in your Video Ads settings
8. Changes to this policy
We'll announce material changes to this policy at least 30 days before they take effect, via banner on the platform and email to active subscribers. Non-material changes (typo fixes, link updates) may be applied immediately.
